Residu zero

Living Lab:Terranostra

Residu zero focuses on reducing packaging waste across the food distribution system. While the cooperative already offers a wide range of bulk products and reusable packaging options, this innovation aims to go further by systematically minimising single-use materials. Key actions include expanding the availability of products sold in bulk, encouraging consumers to bring and use their own containers, and collaborating with producers to introduce returnable packaging solutions.

A dedicated “packaging corner” will centralise all packaging options and provide clear guidance to consumers, while communication campaigns, workshops, and awareness-raising activities will promote behavioural change.

The initiative also explores practical solutions such as offering recycled packaging and increasing the range of reusable alternatives available for purchase. By addressing both logistical and behavioural aspects, the innovation seeks to significantly reduce waste generation and emissions, while reinforcing shared responsibility among consumers and producers. At the same time, challenges related to convenience, cleaning infrastructure, and customer habits must be carefully managed to ensure adoption and long-term success.
