On 17 September 2026, InnOFoodLabs hosted its third Community of Practice webinar, bringing together participants from more than 50 countries to explore how stronger relationships between farmers, consumers, local communities and markets can contribute to more resilient and sustainable organic food systems.
Opening the session, Michaël Wilde (The Organic Embassy, Netherlands) highlighted the importance of reconnecting society with organic farming through initiatives such as Organic Regions and Bio Districts, demonstrating how collaboration between farmers, local authorities, businesses and citizens can create environmental, economic and social benefits.
The practical examples showcased innovative approaches from across Europe. Michèle Hürner presented Biomondo, a digital marketplace connecting organic producers directly with buyers in Switzerland. In Spain, Auba Capo shared how the Terranostra consumer cooperative has built strong links between producers and consumers through community engagement and shared values. From Denmark, Camilla Mikkelsen (Økologisk Samsø) demonstrated how community ownership of agricultural land on the island of Samsø is creating new opportunities for farmers while strengthening local food systems.
The webinar reinforced a common message: sustainable food systems depend on meaningful connections between producers, consumers and local communities. By sharing practical experiences and lessons learned, participants illustrated how collaborative, community-driven initiatives can help build stronger organic value chains across Europe.
The presentation and recording of the session are now available for further consultation.
